What this notebook does with your name.
Last updated March 2026. This notice is for The Crossing Notes, written by Pauline Groulx, P.O. Box 214, Port aux Basques, NL A0M 1C0.
The short version
This is a planning guide. It does not take bookings, payments, or a mailing list. If you email me, I have whatever you typed, and I use it to answer you. I do not sell that letter.
If you came from an advertisement
If you came from an advertisement, you may have been shown this guide because a campaign matched a search about Newfoundland, the ferry, or tickets. The ad platform keeps its own record of that click. I do not receive your name from the advertisement. I see ordinary server logs: address, browser, the page, the time. I use those to keep the site upright, not to build a profile of you.
PIPEDA
I am in Canada, and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act is the rule I follow for personal information that is collected, used, or disclosed in the course of this guide. The information I actually hold is thin:
- an email you send, and my reply
- standard server logs kept for a short while so I can see what broke
- a strictly necessary cookie if the site has to remember a technical preference
You can ask what I have that is about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete the letter. Write to [email protected]. If you think I have handled it badly, you can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
What I do not do
No account. No checkout. No sale of addresses. No hidden form. Pages are readable without signing anything.
