The Crossing Notes Port aux Basques · North Sydney

Who is writing

Port aux Basques, then the boat, then whoever is cooking at the other end.

I am Pauline Groulx. I grew up where the short crossing comes in. For fifteen years I have gone back and forth to family a few times a year. The humour, if you hear it, is just how we talk when the wind has already won the argument.

This notebook is a planning guide. It is not a timetable and it is not a ticket window. I wrote down the parts people get wrong: two routes, not one; the vehicle deck filling before the cabin; winter cancellations; food that is ok; a loading queue that is part of the day.

If you want the official sailing, use the operator’s own site. If you want a person who has done the crossing often enough to be bored by it and still fond of it, you are in the right kitchen.
